Natalie M. Higgins is a Democratic member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the 4th Worcester District . A lifelong Leominster resident, she is a Boston-educated attorney, former non-profit director, and rape crisis counselor dedicated to service and advocacy. Elected in November 2016 and sworn in on January 4, 2017, she was reelected in 2018 and 2020. Notable achievements include defeating a well-known incumbent by 38 votes in the primary and 2,000 in the general election, and her committee leadership roles, such as House Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Service for the 2023-2024 session. She also co-chairs the Library Caucus, Public Higher Education Caucus, and Protecting Animal Welfare Caucus.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Graduated from Leominster High School in 2006; earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from UMass Amherst in 2009; obtained her law degree from Northeastern University School of Law and was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 2014.
Political Experience: Serves on multiple committees, including House Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Service, House Committee on Ways and Means, Joint Committee on Ways and Means, Joint Committee on Mental Health, Substance Abuse & Recovery, and Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities . Previously, Vice-Chair of the House Committee on Personnel & Administration and roles on committees for Community Development and Small Business, Higher Education, Mental Health, Substance Use and Recovery, and Technology and Intergovernmental Affairs.
