About
Representative Pete Stauber
Pete Stauber is a Republican representative currently serving his fourth term in Congress as the representative from Minnesota's Eighth Congressional District. A native of Duluth, Minnesota, Stauber is known for his background in law enforcement and professional athletics.
Before entering Congress, Stauber built a distinguished career in public service. He served as a Duluth police officer for over two decades, retiring in August 2017 after 22 years with the department. During his tenure in law enforcement, he held the position of President of the Law Enforcement Labor Services Union, Local 363, and served as an Area Commander with the Duluth Police Department. He also worked as a St. Louis County Commissioner and City Councilor in Hermantown.
Stauber is married to Jodi, an Iraq War veteran and former Command Chief of the 148th Fighter Wing. Together they have six children: Levi, Luke, Isaac, Addilynn, Theo, and Genevieve. They reside in Hermantown, Minnesota.
Education
Stauber graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth, where he excelled in hockey. He received a Division I hockey scholarship to attend Lake Superior State University. During his sophomore year, he became team captain and led the Lakers to a Division 1 National Championship in 1988. Following his college graduation, he was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings and played professional hockey in the National Hockey League.
Political Experience
In Congress, Stauber serves on three House committees:

- House Natural Resources Committee, where he serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources
As Subcommittee Chairman, Stauber has focused on maintaining American energy independence and ending reliance on foreign minerals. His legislative priorities center on economic development in Northeastern Minnesota and supporting law enforcement and border security efforts.
