Biography
Dr. Rich McCormick is a decorated veteran and emergency room physician serving as the U.S. Representative for Georgia's 7th Congressional District. Born on October 7, 1968, in Las Vegas, Nevada, he was raised by a single mother and worked his way through college, earning a degree from Oregon State University. McCormick joined the Marine Corps, becoming a helicopter pilot and serving in combat zones across Africa, the Persian Gulf, and Afghanistan. He also taught at Georgia Tech and Morehouse College as a Marine Officer Instructor. After 20 years of military service, achieving the rank of Commander in the Navy, he transitioned to medicine, serving as an emergency room physician at Northside Hospital. McCormick resides in Suwanee, Georgia, with his wife, Debra, an oncologist, and their seven children.
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Oregon State University
- Master of Business Administration from National University
- Doctor of Medicine from Morehouse School of Medicine, where he served as student body president
- Emergency Medicine Residency completed through Emory University at Grady Hospital in Atlanta

- 2020: Republican nominee for Georgia's 7th Congressional District; lost to Democrat Carolyn Bourdeaux.
- 2022: Elected to represent Georgia's 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
