Biography
Richard Hudson has served as the U.S. Representative for North Carolina's 9th Congressional District since 2013. A member of the Republican Party, he was elected by his colleagues as the Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee for the 118th Congress, making him the fifth-ranking Republican in House leadership and the highest-ranking Republican Member of Congress from North Carolina in history.
Born on November 4, 1971, in Franklin, Virginia, Hudson grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is married to Renee, and they have a son named Lane. The family resides in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
Throughout his tenure, Hudson has been recognized for his legislative effectiveness, being rated the most effective legislator from North Carolina by the Center for Effective Lawmaking. He has also been named the 12th most conservative Member of the House by National Journal.
