Biography
Robin Lynne Kelly, born on April 30, 1956, in New York City, is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, serving Illinois's 2nd Congressional District since 2013. Throughout her tenure, she has been a steadfast advocate for economic development, public safety, and health equity. Kelly has played a pivotal role in addressing gun violence, authoring the 2014 and 2024 Kelly Reports on Gun Violence in America, which provide comprehensive analyses and strategies to combat the crisis. She has also been instrumental in advancing maternal health legislation, including the Maternal Health Quality Improvement Act and the CARE For Moms Act, aiming to reduce maternal mortality rates, particularly among Black women. In May 2025, Kelly announced her candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat to be vacated by retiring Senator Dick Durbin in 2026.
