Biography
Representative Sam Graves, born on November 7, 1963, in Tarkio, Missouri, is a lifelong resident of Missouri's Sixth Congressional District. A sixth-generation family farmer and small businessman, Graves has dedicated his career to serving his community and state. He has been a member of the U.S. House of Representatives since 2001, representing Missouri's Sixth District, which spans from the Missouri to the Mississippi Rivers and includes both rural areas and northern Kansas City suburbs. ,
As a member of the Republican Party, Graves has held several key positions in Congress. He currently serves as the Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, a role he assumed in 2023. In this capacity, he oversees all modes of transportation, including aviation, highways, transit, and maritime transportation. Previously, he served as the Chairman of the House Small Business Committee from 2011 to 2015.
Throughout his tenure, Graves has been recognized for his advocacy on behalf of rural communities and agriculture. He has received the prestigious Friend of Farm Bureau Award from the American Farm Bureau Federation for each of his completed terms and is a past recipient of the Missouri Farm Bureau's Outstanding Service to Agriculture Award.
