Representative Sam Watford

Sam Watford is a Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's 80th House district, which includes parts of Davidson County, including Thomasville. He works as a Waterline Contractor by profession.

Watford is married to Karen Hege Watford, a retired teacher, and has two daughters, Morgan and Jordan.

Political Experience

Watford has served five terms in the North Carolina House of Representatives. Prior to his state legislative service, he gained significant local government experience, having served three terms as a Davidson County Commissioner. He has also served on the Davidson County Planning and Zoning Board.

Notable Positions

Watford currently serves as Chair of the House Committee on State and Local Government. His legislative work has included voting for HB 465, which amended regulations regarding abortion, in 2015.
