Biography
Thomas "Tom" Oliver Jr. was born in Amarillo, Texas, and moved to Burlington, Vermont, at the age of eight. He began his law enforcement career in 1986, attending the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council in 1990. Oliver served with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department until 2019, concluding his tenure as chief deputy. He currently works as a State Deputy Sheriff in Burlington. In addition to his law enforcement career, Oliver has been actively involved in his community, volunteering for Amcare Ambulance and serving as a justice of the peace in Sheldon. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Missisquoi Sportsman’s Club. An avid competitive shooter and licensed pyrotechnician, Oliver enjoys traveling. He resides in Sheldon with his wife, Laurie, and their two children, Evan and Maegan.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Graduated from Burlington High School; earned a bachelor's degree in social sciences from Champlain College.

- Elected to the Vermont House of Representatives for the Franklin-4 District in 2022; assumed office on January 4, 2023.
- Serves on the House Committee on Judiciary and the Judicial Retention Committee.
- Affiliated with both the Republican and Democratic parties.
