Tony Wied was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He owned and operated Dino Stop, a chain of six gas stations and convenience stores in northeastern Wisconsin, which he sold in 2022. In April 2024, Wied announced his candidacy for Wisconsin's 8th Congressional District, receiving an endorsement from former President Donald Trump. He won the Republican primary in August 2024 and subsequently defeated Democrat Kristin Lyerly in the November 2024 general election. Wied was sworn into office on November 12, 2024, to complete the term of former Representative Mike Gallagher, who had resigned in April. ,
