Biography
Vince Fong, born on October 24, 1979, in Bakersfield, California, is a Republican politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 20th Congressional District. This district encompasses parts of Fresno, Kern, Kings, and Tulare counties, including cities such as Bakersfield, Clovis, Hanford, Lemoore, Ridgecrest, Rosamond, Springville, Taft, Tehachapi, Tulare, and Visalia.
Fong began his career in public policy as an aide to Congressman Bill Thomas, focusing on international trade policy to open markets for American farmers and small businesses. He later served nearly a decade as the district director for House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, managing public policy issues and promoting local job creation. In 2016, Fong was elected to the California State Assembly, where he served until 2024. During his tenure, he led discussions on energy independence, transportation infrastructure, and job opportunities in the Central Valley.
In May 2024, Fong won a special election to complete the term of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who had resigned. He was sworn into Congress on June 3, 2024. In the general election held in November 2024, Fong was re-elected to a full term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
