Biography

Yvette Diane Clarke, born on November 21, 1964, in Brooklyn, New York, is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, serving New York's 9th Congressional District since 2013. She previously represented the 11th District from 2007 to 2013. Clarke is the daughter of Jamaican immigrants and has been deeply involved in her Brooklyn community throughout her career. In December 2024, she was elected as the 29th Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, a position she began in January 2025.
