Biography
Chris Van Hollen, born on January 10, 1959, in Karachi, Pakistan, is an American attorney and politician serving as the senior United States Senator from Maryland since 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he succeeded Senator Barbara Mikulski upon her retirement. Prior to his tenure in the Senate, Van Hollen represented Maryland's 8th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2003 to 2017. He has been recognized for his leadership roles, including serving as the Chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee from 2017 to 2019.
