Biography

Paul E. Strommen, a conservative Republican, began serving as the Nebraska State Senator for District 47 on January 8, 2025, succeeding Steve Erdman. Born in Sleepy Hollow, New York, he graduated from the University of Colorado-Denver. Strommen and his wife, Kendra, moved to North Platte, Nebraska, in 2006 and later to Sidney in 2013. Kendra is a partner at the Matzke, Mattoon, Martens & Strommen law firm in Sidney.

Before his election to the Nebraska Legislature, Strommen served on the Sidney City Council, where he was elected in 2022 and appointed as deputy mayor. In this role, he focused on economic development, affordable housing, and reducing the tax burden for Sidney residents. He also served as a commissioner on the Nebraska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, appointed in 2022.

Professionally, Strommen is an executive with Mid America Bio Energy and Commodities, a 50-million-gallon ethanol plant located in Perkins County. He has worked with several ethanol industry leaders in Nebraska, including the Nebraska Ethanol Board and the Renewable Fuels Association.
