Biography
Shelley Moore Capito, born on November 26, 1953, in Glen Dale, West Virginia, is a Republican politician serving as the senior United States Senator from West Virginia since 2015. She is the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from West Virginia and the first Republican to win a full term in the Senate from the state since 1942. Before her tenure in the Senate, Capito represented West Virginia's 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2001 to 2015. She is the daughter of Arch Moore, a three-term governor of West Virginia.
