Biography
Cleo C. Fields, born on November 22, 1962, in Port Allen, Louisiana, is an American attorney and politician currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Louisiana's 6th Congressional District. A member of the Democratic Party, Fields has had a distinguished career in both state and national politics. He was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1992, representing Louisiana's 4th District until 1997. In 1995, he became the first African American since Reconstruction to advance to a gubernatorial runoff in Louisiana. After serving multiple terms in the Louisiana State Senate, Fields returned to Congress in 2025, representing the newly redrawn 6th District.
