Biography
Joyce Beatty, born on March 12, 1950, in Dayton, Ohio, is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, serving Ohio's 3rd Congressional District since 2013. She has a distinguished career in public service, including five terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, where she became the first female Democratic House Leader in Ohio's history. In Congress, Beatty has been a vocal advocate for civil rights, healthcare access, and economic equality. She served as Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus from 2021 to 2023 and has been recognized as one of Ebony Magazine's 150 most powerful African-Americans in the United States.
