Biography
Sydney Kamlager-Dove, born in 1972 in Chicago, Illinois, is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, serving California's 37th Congressional District since January 2023. She succeeded Karen Bass, who was elected Mayor of Los Angeles. Kamlager-Dove's early exposure to politics began in 1983 when she assisted her grandmother in the campaign to elect Harold Washington as Chicago's first Black mayor. She relocated to Los Angeles to pursue higher education and has since been deeply involved in public service and community advocacy.

- 2013: Appointed to the Los Angeles County Commission on Children and Families.
