Biography
Tom McClintock, born on July 10, 1956, in White Plains, New York, is a Republican politician representing California's 5th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. His district encompasses areas from Placerville to Modesto, including the Yosemite Valley and Kings Canyon. McClintock is recognized for his fiscal conservatism, having been rated the best vote for taxpayers in the House four times by the National Taxpayers Union, most recently in 2020.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles , graduated in 1978.

Political Experience:
- Elected to the California State Assembly in 1982, serving until 1992.
- Returned to the Assembly in 1996, serving until 2000.
- Elected to the California State Senate in 2000, serving until 2008.
- Ran for Governor in California's 2003 recall election.
- Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2008, representing California's 4th district until redistricting in 2023, after which he began representing the 5th district.
