Biography
Doris Matsui, born Doris Kazue Okada on September 25, 1944, in the Poston War Relocation Center in Arizona, has been serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 7th Congressional District since 2005. A member of the Democratic Party, she succeeded her late husband, Bob Matsui, who held the position from 1979 until his passing in 2005. Throughout her tenure, Representative Matsui has been a staunch advocate for healthcare reform, environmental protection, and technological innovation. She currently serves as the Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology and is a member of the Energy, Climate, and Grid Security Subcommittee.
