Biography

Kevin Kiley, born on January 30, 1985, in Sacramento, California, is a Republican politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 3rd Congressional District since January 3, 2023. He grew up in the district, attended local public schools, and graduated as valedictorian from Granite Bay High School. Kiley began his career as a 10th-grade English teacher at Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles, where he chaired the English Department and led his students to significant academic gains. After earning his law degree, he served as a Deputy Attorney General, representing the people of California in cases against violent felons. In 2016, Kiley was elected to the California State Assembly, where he introduced significant school choice legislation and authored laws on freedom of speech, privacy, and criminal justice reform. In 2020, he was named National Legislator of the Year by the Association of Independent Workers for his work advancing economic freedom.

Kiley has been a strong advocate for workers' rights, leading efforts to overturn the Department of Labor’s independent contractor ruling and introducing the bipartisan PRESS Act to protect journalists from being compelled to disclose their sources. He has also focused on reducing inflation, increasing educational choice, and managing public lands to prevent wildfires.
