Michael James Baumgartner, born on December 13, 1975, in Pullman, Washington, is a Republican politician currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Washington's 5th Congressional District. Raised in Colton and Pullman, he has a deep-rooted connection to Eastern Washington. Before his election to Congress in 2024, Baumgartner held several public offices, including Spokane County Treasurer from 2019 to 2025 and Washington State Senator for the 6th District from 2011 to 2019. His career also encompasses roles as a diplomat and economic development adviser, reflecting a commitment to both public service and international affairs.
