Biography
Shontel Monique Brown, born on June 24, 1975, in Cleveland, Ohio, is a dedicated public servant representing Ohio's 11th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. She assumed office on November 4, 2021, succeeding Marcia Fudge, who became Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Prior to her congressional tenure, Brown served on the Warrensville Heights City Council from 2012 to 2015 and the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. In 2017, she made history as the first African American and first woman elected chair of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party.
