Biography

Jimmy Gomez, born on November 25, 1974, in Fullerton, California, is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, serving California's 34th Congressional District since 2017. This district encompasses diverse Los Angeles neighborhoods, including Eagle Rock, Boyle Heights, and Koreatown. Before his congressional tenure, Gomez served in the California State Assembly from 2012 to 2017, where he chaired the Assembly Appropriations Committee. He is recognized for his advocacy in paid family leave, environmental justice, and affordable housing. In Congress, Gomez holds positions such as Assistant Whip of the Democratic Caucus and Deputy Whip for the Congressional Progressive Caucus. He founded and chairs both the Congressional Dads Caucus and the Congressional Renters Caucus.
