Biography
Raul Ruiz, M.D., born on August 25, 1972, in Zacatecas City, Mexico, is a Democratic U.S. Representative serving California's 25th Congressional District. Raised in Coachella, California, by farmworker parents, Dr. Ruiz pursued a career in medicine and public service. He worked as an emergency room physician at Eisenhower Medical Center and founded the Coachella Valley Healthcare Initiative to address local healthcare challenges. In 2012, he was elected to Congress, becoming the first Latino to represent the Coachella Valley. Dr. Ruiz resides in Indio, California, with his wife, Monica, and their twin daughters, Sky and Sage.

- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles , graduated magna cum laude.

- *Master of Public Policy * from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Dr. Ruiz was the first Latino to earn three graduate degrees from Harvard University.
