Biography
Ami Bera, M.D., born on March 2, 1965, in Los Angeles, California, is an American physician and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 6th Congressional District since 2023. Prior to redistricting, he represented the 7th District from 2013 to 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, Bera is the longest-serving Indian American in Congress. He resides in Elk Grove, California, with his wife, Janine, also a physician, and their daughter, Sydra.

- Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, Irvine, 1991
