Biography

Earl L. "Buddy" Carter, born on September 6, 1957, in Port Wentworth, Georgia, is a Republican politician and licensed pharmacist representing Georgia's 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2015. Prior to his congressional tenure, Carter served as the Mayor of Pooler, Georgia, from 1996 to 2004, and held positions in both the Georgia House of Representatives and the Georgia State Senate . As the only pharmacist currently serving in Congress, he has been a vocal advocate for healthcare reform, focusing on lowering drug prices and expanding access to healthcare. Carter is married to his college sweetheart, Amy, and they have three sons and eight grandchildren.
