Biography

Diana Lynn Harshbarger, born on January 1, 1960, in Kingsport, Tennessee, is an American pharmacist, businesswoman, and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Tennessee's 1st congressional district since January 3, 2021. A member of the Republican Party, she is the first woman to represent Tennessee's 1st district in Congress. Prior to her political career, Harshbarger was a licensed pharmacist and successful business owner for over three decades. She and her husband, Bob, operated Premier Pharmacy, a compounding pharmacy.

Education and Political Experience

  • Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020, succeeding Phil Roe
  • Serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee

Notable Achievements and Positions

• Legislation:

  • Introduced the PBM Accountability Study Act to increase transparency of pharmacy benefit managers
  • Reintroduced pro-life legislation to overturn FDA policy on mifepristone
  • Reintroduced the bipartisan American Music Tourism Act to promote music tourism

• Policy Positions:

  • Advocates for healthcare reform, economic development, combating the opioid epidemic, and expanding broadband access for rural communities
  • Supports school choice and educational freedoms, opposing federal government interference in K-12 education
  • Opposes the teaching of critical race theory in schools

Harshbarger is also considering a run for Governor of Tennessee in 2026, contingent upon Senator Marsha Blackburn's decision not to run.
